About Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound therapy is a non-invasive, effective and FDA-approved treatment method for musculoskeletal problems. In the probe of the ultrasound device, there is a crystal with piezoelectric properties, which is caused by the electric current to oscillate, and as a result, creates ultrasonic waves or ultrasound. These sound waves are able to penetrate deep into tissues such as muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints and cause deep heat and non-thermal effects in the tissue. In the thermal effect, when the ultrasound waves are transmitted from the device to the skin, they cause the nearby tissues to vibrate, and this vibration leads to the production of heat inside the tissues.
The deep heat created in the tissue increases blood circulation and as a result increases elasticity and accelerates tissue repair and reduces pain. In addition to thermal effects, ultrasound waves can produce energy in the body, which causes the expansion and contraction of small gas bubbles around the soft tissue.
Therapeutic applications
The process of contraction and expansion of energy leads to the reduction of the inflammatory reaction, the reduction of tissue swelling and, as a result, the reduction of pain. In general, the ultrasound machine has the ability to treat any kind of damage in the soft tissues of the body.
- Joint stiffness
- Maintain or increase range of motion
- Movement retraining and muscle strengthening
- Injury and inflammation of tendons and ligaments
- Spasm, tension and muscle cramps
- Reducing tension-type headaches or migraines
- Reduction of myofascial pains
